If You Are Stuck Doing Vanlife During COVID 19 Here Is What You Should Know

Many people like maybe yourself are experiencing vanlife during COVID 19. If you are currently living or traveling in a van you must know your options during this pandemic.

The world as we knew it has been turned upside down in the last few weeks. We as a nation have been put on lockdown.

Leaders around the world have closed borders and have initiated “stay in place” orders. social distancing has become a new trending phrase all over the globe.

The most important thing that we do right now is slow down the spread of the Coronavirus by isolating and staying at home.

For most of us, we traded our mortgages and rental properties for living full time in a van. So what are our options right now to make sure we can stay safe where we can shelter in place?

Your Options For Vanlife During COVID 19

As vanlifers, it’s important to know we have options during this quarantine. Many cities and states are mandating lockdowns right now.

If you find yourself in a place where you are unsure where to go the best thing you can do is contact the local city office.

Many cities around the world have measures in place to help you find a safe place to park.

For those of you that are in Canada the best place for you to stay up to date on travel, info is to visit the Canadian Government website.

US travelers can visit Travel.State.Gov to stay up on daily updates.

If you are a United States citizen traveling in Mexico please contact the US embassy to get important information.

The CDC (Centers For Disease Control) website has really good information concerning traveling during this time of the Coronavirus.

We Are A Strong Community Who Help Each Other

Many influential vanlifers we all follow either on Instagram or Youtube have found themselves in tough times during this pandemic.

Two of my favorite traveling couples on Youtube Trent and Allie, and Eamon & Bec have made a very hard decision during this time.

Both couples have made the decision to leave their homes in foreign countries they were traveling in.

We can all sympathize with their decisions as our vans are our homes and leaving behind something so valuable puts a strong burden on us all.

Not all of us are in the position to evacuate our homes I get it. Decisions have to be made to ensure our safety and well being.

If you have friends or know someone that has properties reach out to them and ask them if you can park in their driveway or land.

Look on Ioverlander for BLM land or free places to stay. A lot of state parks and campgrounds have closed due to the quarantine but there are still safe places available to camp.

Most of us have designed our mobile homes to live off-grid with solar power and water tanks to last for days and weeks at a time.

We have prepared for this although none of us would have ever imagined we would ever have to do so.

A great resource for living vanlife during the COVID 19 is Facebook.

Here are some reliable groups you can join to learn how others are surviving the pandemic.
